Sequence inspired poetry

I look.
There’s Matt, hiding I the upstairs hall closet.
I pace back and forth and run.
I pretend I do not see Matt. I look in the attic vent shaft. “No Matt here!” I yell. I hear him giggle. “Can’t find me, Cara!” he yells back. I go downstairs near the closet, prepared to “find” him. Then I trip.
I grab the banister. This means I am pressed against the wall. So I hear my step-dad. You’ve come for a meeting?” he asks. He sounds flustered. He obviously did not expect this. “Right,” he says.
His secretary sees me.
I thought he did, at least. He did not.
